First up: Epic Skate Rink from the East Coast of Australia…

You’re a rink AND a retailer - do you have a fun story about the rink's history?
The rink was originally built by Leanne McMahon, she is still on the wall in a mural near the party area. I like to think she is keeping an eye on the place. 

What are your fave learn-to-skate resources, and where can we find them?
We have a lot of figure skaters on our staff, and we all like to watch Instagram videos of the world champions. My favourite at the Moment is Madalena Costa. She recently won the World Championships for Free Skating and set a record for the highest mark ever in Junior Ladies Free Skating. You can watch the world champions for free on worldskate.tv , which is run by World Skate. 

What’s the most chaotic thing that’s ever happened in your store or on the rink?
Recently I was running the rink on my own with a school group, mid-week. We ended up really busy and then the ice cream man turned up with 20 boxes of ice creams that were starting to melt all over the canteen bench, my brain left the building at that point. Haha.

Do you have a rink Spotify playlist or fave song?
My favourite playlist at the rink at the moment is the one we created for our Wed night 16+ Social Skate, it's got some awesome bangers from back in the day.

Any upcoming events, workshops, or collabs we should keep an eye on?
We are super excited about our Hawaiian night coming up on the Sunday the 24th of August. It should be a super fun tropical blast to warm us up in this chilly season.
