Frequently Asked Questions About Sizing
What Shoe Sizes Are Listed on the Website?
All roller skates and inline skates listed on Impala Skate AU are shown in US Women's sizing. We also have a size chart available for you to convert from the sizing that you’re more familiar with. See our size chart for conversions between US Women’s, US Men’s, EU sizes and a centimetre reference for you to measure yourself up at home!
How Should Inline Skates and Roller Skates Fit?
When buying inline skates or roller skates, a snug but comfortable fit is the most important thing. We recommend using the size chart available on each of our product pages and starting with your EU size. If you’re between sizes, we recommend selecting the size up. If your skates don’t quite fit, you can always return them and swap for your perfect size!
What Size of Inline Skate Should I Get?
Impala Lightspeed Inline Skates are built to fit most foot shapes and can be adjusted with their lace and buckle system to achieve your perfect fit. You can find a size chart on each Inline Skate product page that features EU, US, and cm sizing – to assist you in choosing the right size. We recommend choosing your EU size when purchasing you skates, and if you are a half size, we recommend going a size up. Impala is for everyone – so to convert to Men’s US, we recommend going up two full sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions About Skating
Roller Skates vs. Inline Skates – Which Is Better?
Skating is all about having fun - so whether it’s roller skating, inline skating or skateboarding, you’re always better off choosing the one you like best. While we think that both are amazing and great ways to get outdoors – you may have your own preference in skating style! Roller skates have a wider wheelbase, so some people feel this allows more stability when practicing. Others feel that the longer wheelbase of the inline skates is also helpful when they start to learn. They’re all super fun, so we recommend choosing whichever one feels best for you!
What Are Inline Skates?
‘Inline skates’ is another name for roller blades. Just like you might have seen at the skatepark or in the street – inline skates have their wheels all arranged in a single line, directly below the rider’s foot. Check out our Lightspeed Inline Skates to see what we’re talking about.
Which Roller Skates Are the Best for Beginners?
The best roller skates for beginners are the ones you love to skate in – but the right combination of fit, style and durability will definitely make it easier! Impala Roller Skates are great for beginner to intermediate roller skaters. We have a whole range of cute and fun colourways and styles for you to choose from. Some of our most popular styles are even available in an extended size range!
What Roller Skates Should I Buy as a Beginner?
Roller skating is for everyone – and for beginners, our Impala Roller Skates are the perfect way to start learning. Our quads feature quality components, durable and waterproof PVC uppers, ankle support and are available in a range of cute and fun colours and styles. Everything you need to get started!
Can Impala Roller Skates Be Used Outside?
Impala Roller Skates are excellent for beginner to intermediate skaters looking to skate outdoors in the streets, down by the beach or at the skatepark. They feature light and strong alloy baseplates for durability and 58mm 82A durometer urethane wheels for grip while you skate down the pavement!
How Do Roller Skates Work?
Roller skates feature a baseplate that supports back and front hangers – a lot like a smaller version of a skateboard. This baseplate and hanger assembly has urethane bushings that allow your skate to turn when you lean your foot, and you can tighten or loosen these to suit the way you skate. The wheels roll because they’re fitted with our signature Impala Pink ABEC-7 Bearings – offering a smooth but secure ride for the streets, by the beach and at the skatepark!
How Do You Use Inline Skates?
Learning to skate in a pair of inline skates can feel tricky at first, but with some time and persistence you’ll have the basics down sooner than you think! The trick is to focus on building a solid base of skills and then later moving on to the more advanced moves. Focus on getting comfortable just moving around and keeping your balance to start off and build your confidence.
Are Inline Skates Easier to Skate in than Quads?
Learning to roller skate or inline skate takes time – but that learning process looks a little different for each style. Some people find it easier to get comfortable skating at slightly faster speeds with the longer wheelbase of inline skates, while others find the side-by-side stability of a quad skate helpful when just getting started out. They’re all super fun, so we recommend choosing whichever one feels best for you!
